Paris : 30 m2 full of ideas

Take an small gloomy flat, add a yellow background, a touch of red to spice it up and voila! a stylish new flat is born.

Originally this 30 m2 flat was divided into three different rooms. There was no bathroom as is often the case with Parisian flats built around the turn of the century. "It was so sad, covered with flowery wallpaper", Denis remembers. Specialized in the restructuration and decoration of flats, My Flat in Paris is not afraid of taking on a challenge: transform this place without a soul into a studio with a strong personality.

To begin Denis chose to tear down the existing walls to obtain one large room in which he will design a living-room area and a sleeping area. But the style MFIP required preserving certain degree of intimacy for the bedroom. The solution: the bed is placed between two plaster partitions. The partition situated at the foot of the bed doesn't't go up to the ceiling but isolates the bed from the living-room area nonetheless. Painted in a deep red that contrasts dramatically with the yellow walls, it is the colors that brings originality to this flat.

Denis then used the same idea to create a living-room area. The choice of the colors was made based on a small blood red and gold etching by Isabelle Héraud. Denis often uses this principal to inspire the decoration of a flat. The studio was thus dressed up in red and yellow, a very spicy mixture! The creation of a false ceiling in the form of a "U" allowed spot lights to be added to create the perfect lighting. Painted in red this false ceiling pulls the entire room together and gives a sense of unity.

To install the bathroom, Denis chose to use the old kitchen which was the only closed area left in the flat. The kitchen was discretely placed in the entryway.

The furniture was found in flea markets and antique shops as the flat took shape, all in a 1970's style. Accessories were chosen in the same style. Denis and MFIP have without a doubt risen to the challenge, this fun, free-spirited flat is like no other.

3- The two colors Denis used in the appartment were inspired by an etching by Isabelle Héraud. The red creates a seperation of space on a yellow background. Here the colors highlight a living-room area that is small but comfortable with funiture bought from various shops. Pour plus de légèreté, Denis l'a interrompue en haut et fixée au plafond par des tiges d'acier.
